question about the stair master

I have started working out on the stairmaster at my gym. It has taken me a while to get the nerve up to try this big machine lol. I can do 20 minutes on it now. I do an hour of cardio going between all of the cardio machines at the gym. I am wondering if the stairmaster is good for firming up my butt, and lifting it? I have also started using some of the weight machines at the gym too. I am trying to see what works best for me with the weight machines. I also use my dumbbells at home(still too embarrassed to use the dumbbells at the gym lol):blushing:

As a rule, cardio equipment is for aerobic exercise. Any incidental muscle "toning and firming" that takes place will be limited to whatever adaptation your body needs to make to do the exercise more efficiently. For someone just starting out, that might be more noticeable, for someone more experienced, it will most likely be minimal.
Cardio is not the place to do your "toning and firming" -- look at it this way: if strength training requires that you choose a resistance that results in temporary "failure" after less than 15 repetitions, it is unreasonable to expect strength training results from a resistance level that is low enough that you can repeat hundreds or thousands of times without reaching failure.
Hit the weights to "firm and tone' your muscles.0 -
To firm up your bottom squats are amazing. First start out without weight then hold a weight in your hands when you squat. Also walking on the treadmill with a big incline such as 6 or higher at a speed above 3.5 mph. It is like hiking up a mountain it works your legs & bottom.
