Good Morning everyone,
Just a quick overview- I started my weightloss journy in Sept. 2011 at 197lbs. Last month I was down to 136lbs. During this time at the gym I really hadn't increased my weights, but July 1st I did and every week i've increased my weight and changed my sets/reps. My weight is now at 142lbs...... my measurements are still the same except my hips and abdomen increase slightly by .5inc with water weight gain and then will return to normal after a few days. Anyhow, even though my measurements have remained the same I feel like my midsection has gotten bigger, I feel fatter. I haven't been logging my calories like I should have so that I know is one reason I'm not going anywhere, but what should I be doing to get rid of my back fat and belly fat. I'm targeting these areas and lifting the max weight and doing 15-30 minutes of cardio afterwards 3 days a week.
any thoughts???

Log your calories. If we do not know what you are eating and how much you are eating, there is very little we can suggest to you.0

I think I have the same problem as you. I've worked out off and off for the last 4 years but consistently gone to the gym I joined in November at least 5 times a week. I've gained weight since I started. I am 5'4", 21 years old, started at 135 lbs, now weight 141.5 lbs (and gaining I believe!!). I have been tracking my foods, and I'll be the first to say I don't eat the healthiest, but don't understand why I'm still gaining weight if I've increased how much I work out over the years. "It could be muscle" yeah, sure. I guess, but I'm not convinced. I'll be interested to see the answers. Good luck to you! :happy:0

If your measurements are staying the same but your weight is going up, chances are good you're gaining muscle. That's rarely a bad thing.0

I had the same issue. My inches weren't moving and the muscle swelling was making me puffy. My weight has gone up since lifting heavier. Look at my profile pic, I am actually heavier but with the same inches as the pic on the left. But they look different. I feel and look healthier.
If your goal is long term fitness, just keep plugging away. Also, progress pics help during times like these when you aren't getting the validation you want from the scale or the tape.
Hope this helps. Feel free to add me if you want. I have transitioned from cardio with lifting to more lifting. I am also starting the Stronglifts 5x5 program.
Hope this helps.0 -
