Hi! I'm not much of a poster, but I wanted to say how happy I am with this program.
I had gained a little more weight after this summer--kind of depressed after spending the summer full-time with my little son and not really focusing on me--just on him. Also I turned 40 this year, so thought I must be going through some weird metabolism change. Usually I can lose the 5 or 8 lbs I need to when I put my mind to it (and then bounce back at various times throughout the year, and then lose again...), but for some reason I wasn't able to this summer. I just felt icky, and beginning to feel old (something I really didn't want to feel!).
A friend told me about MFP. I was skeptical at first and didn't think I could bother with calorie counting. But I realized I wasn't having any success on my own, so I might as well try. I have been doing this for close to 8 weeks and am so happy that the clothes that were tight on me a few months ago are now pretty lose. I don't typically weigh myself, but had to go to the Dr. a few days ago and based on that I think I have lost 6 or 7 lbs.....
Amazing. I love the numerics--it's something so black and white, easy to understand and live by. I believe too this is something I can use in my lifestyle ongoing and it probably will be a no brainer. Making sure to exercise, and making that a quantitative element added to what you eat is eye-opening too. I realized quickly what I was doing before--eating similarly, but more---but not exercising as regularly to make up for the extras. Not good.
Anyway, I'm thankful to be on track!
