Elliptical results?

Hello all! A few days ago, we purchased our very own elliptical machine (a Livestrong 10.0E). It's been much too hot this summer to jog or run outside and I don't like working out at the gym (not a fan of working out in front of people, plus I hate getting in my car when I'm sweaty!). I was just wondering when I could expect to start seeing results.

What I'm doing for my workouts are various set modes built into the machine (Weight Loss mode, Constant Watts, etc.) for 45 minutes every day whilst re-watching the newer Doctor Who episodes, beginning with Eccleston. Gotta keep myself entertained and motivated somehow, ha! :) I've done it eight times now, logged a total of 22 miles, and burn 500-600 calories per session, according to my Polar HRM. And trust me...I sweat on that thing more than I did at the gym, probably because I'm not afraid to push it here at home.

Any relevant thoughts on the matter would be appreciated. Thanks!

First off, Yay Doctor Who! Gotta love Nine.

Now for the vague part- you want to know when you can see results, but you don't state what your goals are. Are you looking for inches lost, weight loss, increased endurance, <insert other possible goal here>?

Keep in mind it's not all exercise. Food plays a big part of some results too. So... in answer, your results depend on a big ball of wibbly wobbly timey wimey.... stuff.

In any case, it sounds like you're getting a good cardio workout.

    Best of luck!

Jealous. I wish they weren't so big as I really want to get one.

Yay for fellow Whovians on MFP, hehe :) Indeed, I probably should have mentioned what I'm trying to do. I'm trying to lose weight and inches. I'm trying to do better in the food department...for a few weeks before we got the elliptical, I wasn't logging because I was eating too little. I guess old habits die hard :/ But yeah, now I'm striving to eat a reasonable amount (1550 is my daily goal) of things that are better for me.

Somehow, we fit it in my hatchback...that was a bit of a miracle. And it was way too heavy to carry in all at once, so my boyfriend opened the box out on the street and I took it down to the basement, piece by piece. Yikes!
