L'Carnitine vs. Lecithin

Heya!
My local N'Rgize cafe ran out of the L'Carnitine supplement they use in their fat-fighter, which I love. I use L'Carnitine in the morning, in pill form.
Anyway, they tried to substitute Lecithin granules stating that it's pretty much the same thing. I stopped them as I wasn't sure where the lecithin was derived from, at the time, and I have food allergies. They claimed that the lecithin was IN the fat-fighter supplement (I don't recall seeing that on the list when I first checked it all out).
I just looked up the lecithin but can't seem to find a comparison between that and L'Carnitine. Can anyone shed any light on this?
I emailed the main NrGize company to ask them about the mix they use for fat-fighter, since I no longer have the info. I know it's safe for me to take because when it was open, the cafe had provided me with the full ingredients list due to my having allergies. Now it's under new management.
This substitution disturbs me because if they did, say, the whey supplement, I would have had a reaction for sure, since I KNOW I'm allergic to whey products. I warned them against substituting when they do not know if a customer has allergies.
This new owner does not seem as well-versed in health products as the other one was and was quick to "diss" the other owner. Yet the other owner never ran out of products as this one has.
