diabetes diet

I have a few questions. Since being diagnosed as borderline diabetic, I have no idea as to what I should eat. I have looked at several sites, the food sounds ok I guess. I was wondering if any of you know of good, tasty recipes for diabetics.
I dont know if I should be on a diabetic diet, but I think its the 'safe' way to go for now. So any suggestions would be greatly appriciated :)

It never hurts anyone to eat like a diabetic, because they eat pretty normally. What you need to do is reduce your weight, and not eat meals that are too big at once. When you eat really large meals, it creates a burst of glucose that the body may not be able to process. So dividiing your total intake into fairly balance portions, as many as 6 meals a day if you want, is a good start. Some people like to have breakfast, morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack, dinner, and dessert.

Try to eat carbohydrates that take longer to digest (complex carbohydrates) like beans and whole grains.

If you can really eat well, you'll experience health gains that will reverse where you are going and get you out of danger.

Hi, I'm a type 1 diabetic and I find the "diabetic recipes" are crap. It's not exactly the same for type 2 diabetes or borderline, but it's just crap. I have to take insulin for carbs. Most of these "sugar free" diabetic things just have more carbs and less sugar. Not helpful. The thing that has helped my blood sugar TREMENDOUSLY is just eating well and eating clean. Simple. I used to eat lots of high fat, high carb fast food meals. So of course I would be blowing up my body with lots of insulin. Now I don't eat so many carbs in a day so I'm not constantly shooting myself up with insulin. Just eat better! It'll do wonders! Eat well balanced meals, lots of veggies with protein and some carbs. No need to sacrifice good food just to follow a "diabetic" diet. Blegh! Message me if you have more questions!

I am a type 2 diabetic. My diary is open if you want to get an idea of what I eat. I count mainly calories and carbs. :)

It's a shame the person giving you the diagnosis didn't provide more information.

You have a problem handling carbohydrates. You should therefore eat less of them.

So less or no pasta, potato, chips, cookies, fries, bread, cake, sugar etc etc.
