I have a FT4, I did a 45 min spin class and it only registered 280 calories. I know this isn't correct. Have the correct weight, height and age set up. I bought it so I would know how many calories I burned during the class and it doesn't read properly.

Is the strap wet and placed in the proper area? Do you clean it well?

Yes to all of the above...it is only 2 days old.....and it is the 4th HRM I've had over the last 25yrs, it should have performed as expected.

I guess the first check is that it's clocking your heart rate correctly - how does it compare to your pulse ? What did it record for the spin class - average and peak heart rate.
