Subsitute for chocolate

I just became allergic to chocolate in the last few months. Is carob a good subsitute? Anyone ever try it? I also became lactose intolerant ,so noooo ice cream. waaaaaaaaaaa. On the bright side Im losing weight. Would love any suggestions!

    I personally really like carob. Some people say it can't compare but I think it comes pretty close :)
