Do you eat your daily calorie allowance and ignore calories gained through exercise or do you exercise, gain calories and eat up to the value of those gained?
I'm trying to ignore those I've gained.

I eat most of my exercise calories (it's not always possible for me to eat all, and I want to leave some wiggle space for error). If I don't, I feel like I'm starving.0

Why would you worry about what the others are doing? What's in that link works that's why the site made it a sticky topic. Eat back your calories, or at least most of them :flowerforyou:0 -

did you read that post tho? Satxtrap is right, once you do you wont care about what others are doing.
Im working on getting into the headspace that allows me to eat and not be starving while Im on a 'diet' (Im also working on telling myself its a 'life style change' but my brain still reads that as 'diet'). Im taking the fake it til you feel it approach and trying each day to do the right thing. Ive lost 7kgs since I started a few weeks ago (15lbs) and a total of 8cms off my tummy.

Currently i don't eat my exercise calories.
I find the exercise calories a bit of a rough measurement. Just by milling round the house and doing the normal run of the mill stuff you burn calories, are you supposed to log them too?
I'm been wearing a Nike Fuelband for a week, and have found it to be very accurate when comparing it's figure for 30mins on the treadmill to what the treadmill says. According to my fuelband, i'm burning between 1500 and 2000 calories per day, should i be logging all them as "excercise calories" on mfp? - probably not (and i don't) .
I'm eating about 1200-1400 calories per day, and feel fine for it.
So, should you eat your "exercise calories", I've honestly got no idea... But at the end of the day, if you're eating healthily and not starving yourself (and you're losing weight) then why bother eating the calories.0 -
I usually exercise because I want more food for the day, so yes, I generally eat at least half of my exercise calories.0

You ask a valid question. I find that losing weight for each person is different. You have to experiment and see what works for you. Eating too many calories or eating to few calories can certainly impact whether you gain or lose weight. If you do exercise and burn alot of calories you may put your body into a deficit of calories and need to adjust your calorie intake to maintain a healthy balance. Just a thought hope this helps.0

^^^This. I don't eat my exercise calories back and I'm absolutely fine. My personal trainer gives me nutrition goals every week and it never includes that. I figure he knows what he's doing and it's working for me so I see no problem. Everyone's different though.0 -
Exercise: gym time, or working out in addition to just daily running around, I consider this extra calorie burn and I may dip into this number if I am hungry or there is something I want to eat like a dinner out or dessert.
Folks that log cleaning house as exercise make me lol, and I don't eat those back that is just part of my daily moving around I consider that as part of my TDEE.
But as a general rule I eat above my BMR and as close to my TDEE as I can.0 -
I try to eat at least 100-200 calories under my net calorie goal, if not at goal. This includes my exercise calories. I'm floored by how well this works.0
