Late exercise - when to eat?

Going to a fitness class tonight with a friend. It's from 8 to 9pm. I go to bed at 9:30 (young children) so don't want to eat too much after the class. Was thinking I'd have a big lunch then have peanut butter on toast at 5:30 and then a little something when I get home like greek yoghurt with honey??? Bit clueless really...

You can really get to sleep 30 mins after working out?? Takes me a good couple of hours for me to sleep. And my appetite is usually raging after the gym!

Sounds sensible to me. Try it to see what works for you (you may find that you can handle something more dinner-like before class).

I have a 9:30-11:00 class, so usually I do a large lunch, a light dinner at least an hour before class (usually 1/2 grilled chicken breast, a starch, and a small salad), and then I have toast or something afterwards.

Sounds good, if you know your going to burn calories late eat them earlier in the day and the Greek yogurt will be good for some protein afterwards. Good thinking.
  • Thanks everyone. I'll give it a go. I have sluggish digestion so am shy of eating too much before exercise. I know it's not ideal to exercise so close to bedtime but I work all day then have to get the kids fed/ bathed/ and in to bed. Then I have to wait for dh to get home from work...

If I can't sleep for a couple of hours after the class I'm going to be screwed!! :noway:  Will suck it and see...
