Waitressing? how many calories!

Hey everyone!
help please - I jsut got a job waitressing at a big veeery busy restaurant. I do shifts of 5 hours and sit down for ten minutes for my break during that period. the rest of the time I am lifting heaving trays and powerwalking practically around the restaurant. Im rarely standing still. How should I log this? it definetly raises a sweat at times! how fast do you think the walk would be? I walk quite fast but dont know mph..help!
Anyone in similar situations with a busy job?
Cheers :)

I would change you activity level if this is a job you are working everyday. :-)

^^ I agree. I wouldn't log it but I would adjust your settings to reflect your new job. Congrats BTW!

so what do you recommend the new settings would be at?
my lifestyle choice is already at waitressing.
Can I still log this activity as walking? Im doing alot and dont want to feel like this wont help my weight gain.. advice?
  • You can if you want, but it sounds like too much work, and will be innacurate unless you wear a HRM every time you work.

The 'activity levels' in your profile are supposed to factor in your job, eg, Sedentary is for people with desk jobs like me.

If 'active' is the setting they recommend for waitressing then it's probably correct. It should be factoring in extra calories into your daily allowance, if you added walking on top of that it would just throw it out more.

I used to do 12hr shifts in a busy warehouse, moving heavy pallets around on hand trolleys. I would have classified that as 'active'. The bigger danger for me was I was so busy I would end up eating whatever crap was available to me and not working out on my days off because I was so knackered. Same goes for my past jobs in pubs and restaurants!

    Hope that helps! :)
