Weight gain??

So when I started, I was around 215. I decided to diet and start getting in shape. For the first month, I simply adjusted my diet to around 1500 calories (recommended amount by mfp) and lost weight rapidly! I dropped down to a consistent 206-207.

Now over the last week and a half, I've started a cardio exercise and strength training regimen, in addition to eating roughly similar calories (maybe 100 more as suggested by MFP). However...I've gained weight????? How does that make any sense? I'm back up to hovering around 209-210.

At first I thought, oh maybe it's water weight, but I definitely drink an excess of water. I go through like 8 bottles a day, and keep hydrated during exercise.

Any help or insight?

    When you start a new exercise routine, your muscles retain water for muscle repair, so even if you are drinking enough water, you will still retain some in the initial weeks. Don't worry about it too much. That water weight should eventually fall away. Don't forget to take your measurements. I bet you'll see a difference there :)
