Six weeks to middle age - set me some goals

In six weeks time I will hit 45, which I think of as the onset of middle age, having been a middle youth up until now  What would be some good goals to achieve over those six weeks?

I'm fairly fit but I've been a bit slack on the exercise and healthy eating for the last couple of weeks and my weight loss has slowed down to a halt.

I've fallen out of any kind of exercise routine. I run on Saturdays and do Body Pump most Sundays, but other than that I just do SOMETHING (which of late has been the easy option - power walk or swim for example) for another three days.

One goal will be to run a 10K race around that date - I've done a few 10Ks before but of late I've only been running up to about half an hour, so that's a fairly rapid ramp-up as my last one took me 1 hour 16.

I currently weigh 12st 4lbs (172lbs) and my healthy BMI begins at 11st 12lbs (166lbs) which SEEMS achievable were it not for the fact my weight hasn't shifted for 6 months or more!

My waist size is 34" and I'd definitely like to see a healthy 31", but that's quite a big percentage drop.

Other than these sensible considerations, I'd be interested in more fun goals and challenges. Anything reasonable, or unreasonable yet fun, genuinely considered!

I think that for your 45th year, you should try a triathlon. Obviously, not in the next six weeks, but at some point in your 45th year, you should give that a shot. I think you'd be amazed at how well you'd do. I mean, you already run and swim. Borrow a bike and see where you can go from there.

What about a plank-a-day for the waist measurement? It's nasty. But it's good. :-)

(How tall are you? Just being curious really, rather than it having actual relevance to the thread!)

Done a couple. I hate cycling especially round London. Sold my bike a couple of months back

Definitely up for some ab work! I did get to over a minute before I quit. I still haven't done my new Davina DVD which has an extra abs section.

    Oh, and I'm 5' 8"

I LOVE what those guys do! I can see me lugging my Iron up the Mital tower in the Olympic park!

It's hard because you've pretty much done it all.

After watching the Olympics, I come up with these ideas:

Learn to do a complete handstand that you can hold for 30 seconds
Row a skull from London to Southend-on-Sea
Run 45 miles in four and a half weeks

    Best I got.

What about trying to break through your plateau? Whether that's by cutting an extra 500 calories per day through ramping up your running time and eating less...or stop eating 3 hours before bed...something to just help you literally tighten the belt? That is the expression, isn't it? I tend to butcher cliche's...lol

Jeez I wish I lived in London, you could show me how to run and I could whittle your waist!
