2 Cups Reduced-Fat Bisquick Baking Mix
3/4 Cup Low-Fat Buttermilk
2 teaspoons Butter Buds Sprinkles
1 Packet Splenda
1/4 teaspoon Salt
I Can't Believe It's Not Butter Spray

Preheat the oven to 450 degrees. Combine the baking mix, buttermilk, butter buds, Splenda, and salt in a medium bowl. Mix by hand until well blended. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface (I just used more baking mix) and knead for about 30 seconds, or until the dough becomes elastic. Roll the dough to about 3/4 of an inch thick, and punch out biscuits using a 3-inch cutter. Arrange the punched out dough on an ungreased baking sheet, and bake for 10-12 minutes or until the biscuits are golden on top and have about doubled in height. Remove the biscuits from the oven and immediately spray ICBINB spray on each top. Serve warm.

I've been looking for a lower-calorie biscuit recipe that tastes good, and this sounds like it might be it! I plan to try it.

    Thanks!

    Mmmmmmmmmmmm biiiiiscuuutts (think homer simpson)

You found my kryptonite, Joanna! I may just have to make these.

Question, what if I replace the bisquick with whole wheat flour? I wonder if it will still work.
I really eat too many enriched simple carbs already, I shouldn't be special making them
when I could use whole wheat. They probably won't rise as much I guess.

    I love biscuits too!
I was thinking the same thing.
How about doing half and half (1 cup biscuit mix, 1 cup whole wheat flour)?
I'll look for a recipe that uses whole wheat flour.

hmm that may work. anything to cut down on all those simple carbs.
I thought of a good analogy for carbs today.

Simple carbs is like ligher fluid, burns quick but doesn't provide any lasting heat, fine every once in a while, but use too much and you blow up (HA!)
complex carbs are more like wood, they take longer to burn, and they actually provide you with something more then a quick burst of energy.

These sound yummy!! My only contribution to the ww flour discussion is that bisquick has other stuff in it besides just flour - you would have to make up that difference. Some kind of levening agent and probably a small amount of salt and I really don't know what else. If you were going to do that, you might want to just find a from scratch biscuit recipe to alter.

Found 1 that could be altered reasonably -
    http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Fluffy-Whole-Wheat-Biscuits/Detail.aspx

Found another - this one has a recipe for making your own Bisquick mix. Could prob sub ww flour -
    http://www.grouprecipes.com/s/whole-wheat-biscuit/recipe/1/relevancy
It's about the 3rd or 4th on the list.

    Happy biscuit making!

    Thanks Montanagirl!
I checked out the biscuit mix recipe but I'm not fond of using shortening.. especially 2 cups of it!

I have yet to make these biscuits SN so I don't know. Would be nice if they did!

You can use butter instead of shortening. Also my mom makes pie crusts and stuff using EVOO instead of shortening or butter. Would have to experiment with it - like I said the recipes would have to be altered  Just imagine - a world with a healthy biscuit!!

I can't imagine it, it's too foreign of a concept to even picture in my brain.

The milk might make the batter runny.
