Ok this is a NSV but it is also a question. So a few weeks ago I reached one of my goals of 220 so that means that all of my jeans size 36 fit me. (one pair is still a little snug but i think that is the point they are my "good" *kitten* jeans, hey don't judge guys can have good *kitten* jeans too) However, since I reached my goal I have been sticking to my 38 jeans becuase of habit and there is a little voice in my head that says, "the 36's wont fit". Now I know the 36's will fit becuase I can take the 38's off without unbuttoning them. So yesterday I wore a pair of my 36 jeans and when I put them on I had room, they fit very comfortable. So take that little voice...
But here is my question this morning when I woke up, showered, and was getting ready I grabbed a different pair of jeans and clearly I know they are going to fit but I had that "feeling" inside and heard the voice, "they aren't going to fit". How do I get rid of this voice and does anyone else have this issue?

Give it time. I can't wait to get to 36s. Same thing happened to me when I started going down. Over time your mind will adjust.
Grats on the progress!0 -
Here's a thread I started yesterday about not just focusing on the scale. My thoughts, I know you care about fitting into the 36's, but don't give a crap about it. Focus on your success and let it motivate you to continue. Because 25 lbs lost is something to celebrate.

All the time, but I think it's a huge ego boost when they do fit!!! Pretty soon you'll just grab your 36's without thinking about it though and start feeling that way about 34's
Keep up the good work, Bruce! You're doing fantastic!

Yeah I had this. Was always wearing my size 48s and kept wearing them but I was always aware that they were getting too big. But still I carried on wearing the, to the point my belts got too big. So I decided, hmmm ok let's try on my old ones. Sure enough size 42s fitted me perfectly and comfortably. I had spent ages wearing clothes 6" too big for me.
Guess its just a bit of a mind f**k trying to get used to the idea of slimmer clothes.

I still think "fatass" to myself when I'm squeezing into a pair of tigher jeans....sometimes I have to remind myself that these are size FOUR and not the twelves I used to have to squeeze that "Fat *kitten*" into!
Its very hard to see yourself in a different light when you've gotten used to feeling/looking another way!
Congrats on your 36 jeans.
Now............may I suggest that you GET RID of the 38's as soon as possible so you can get that whole silly idea out of your head?0 -
Bruce..i'm still wearing my size 48 jeans..i'm down to 42 right now. I'm just to cheap to shell out for more when i know i'm still losing....0

Self confidence brother. You have come this far and KNOW you will go even further. Just tell yourself, you are healthy, you are motivated and you are gonna fit in even smaller sized jeans.
Go to your closet, take all the 38's and every other oversized article of clothing and stick them in a bag. Accumulate the clothes and think to yourself, the more I lose the more clothes I get to donate to charity!0 -

I agree with Heidi. The best way to shut up the little voice is get rid of the 38's. It is much easier to backslide when you are wearing baggy clothes.0 -
First of all........Huge Hugs and Super Congrats on your NSV, fabulous work there!!!!
Secondly to answer your quesiton:
I dont know for sure how long it will take to feel good in them or stop thinking they might be tight, I guess about 2 months maybe is how long before smaller sized clothing felt normal to me, I bought a size 18 from my highest at size 24 for all my summer clothing back in may and was so shocked back then when I was in the dressing room trying things on, I had known I lost weight and knew my clothes had got too loose so needed something new , I grabbed the 22s- way too loose , then the 20s good fit but a little loose, and finally said no way, not 18s, and they did fit tight, but fit, as I knew I was going to continue to lose I commited to that smaller size even with the fear of them being a bit tight and now I dont worry, they are comfy or even now have a bit of wiggle room n which I knew they would and they feel great. I have worn them all summer. I am just looking forward to them becoming way too big too! Cant wait!
keep on going !!!!0 -
I don't have "that little voice", but I do have a habit of waring the more lose fitting jeans I have. It makes me feel good knowing I can't ware them without a belt to hold them up. It's sort of a celebration for the lost inches around my waist. So, my thought is to celebrate: either celebrate the lose fitting 38's, or celebrate fitting into the 36's. CELEBRATE! You deserve it!!0

I always think "this isn't going to fit"....but I try it on anyhow. If it doesn't fit, then I'm not disappointed, just turns out I was right and I keep working towards making them fit. If they do fit (and usually do it seems) then yay for me! I feel great when I fit into something I didn't think would. And I make sure I don't let it get me down if they don't; I just add that to my goals0

I fall into the same trap. I started to go through my clothes and made a pile of jeans that are never going to fit. When I had tried them two months ago, they would not even begin to button! Well, I accidently grabbed a pair the other day and took them into the bathroom for my shower. When I got out, I realized my mistake. So, I am standing there, half dressed, and finally decided, well I can at least put them on to get back to the closet and get a different pair (we had guests and I did not want to 'suprise' them). So I tried them on and they not only fit, but were too big! Best feeling ever!0

You basically have to beat that voice into submission. Take your self-doubt as a challenge and prove yourself wrong. I'm still struggling with it myself.0

You know I have the same feeling...my goal jeans sat night......I needed a belt to pull in the gap at the butt, but the butt itself was still snug...just not stuffed into them anymore, it is a great feeling when you start pulling out old clothes yet such a scary one too...to think that those will soon be the everyday loose clothes...0
