Good Carbs???

I am having trouble getting enough carbs in (according to MFP). Does anyone have any advice on which carbs I need to be eating. I usually have a piece of pumpernickel toast for breakfast, and typically eat 2-3 servings of fruit per day. I have been told to stay away from pasta and potatoes...any other suggestions on how to balance my carbs in a healthy way? I am not trying to do the Atkins approach...I guess I just don't realize how few carbs I've eaten until I look at my daily summary. Darn me and my love for meats and proteins! lol

Pasta, potatoes, rice, legumes, bread etc are all fine unless you have a specific intolerance to them

MFP is usually pretty low on fat and protein targets. Make sure you're getting enough of those first. That being said, ditto to Acg.

I can give ya a list of healthy carbs if you would like. I ordered Tap out XT and in the book it give a big list
  • Good carb / Bad carb.... Phbbbbttt! Whatever. Unless you have a specific health condition / concern "carbs" are an important part of your diet. (example...simply put, your brain could care less if you eat fat or protein ever again as it uses sugar for fuel)

Eat healthy portions of pasta, potatoes, etc and you will be fine. Measure, do not load down with extras, and simply be thoughtful about it and you will be fine. When you can, whole grain carbs tend to stick with you better.
