Opinions on Cycling?

I'm looking for some workouts I can do. I've found that going to classes at my gym keeps me motivated most because I hate workout machines and I can never muster up enough motivation to do at-home videos. Most of the classes offered during the summer are cycling classes. I was just wondering what everyone's opinion on cycling is regardless of how advanced you may or may not be in it. What's the best attitude to have going in for the first time?

To be honest, the thought of cycling kind of scares me. Maybe I just watch too much TV. Lol.
