Is there a good rule of thumb when measuring pasta portions without a food scale? Specifically, thin spaghetti?

Do you have one of those pasta spoons with a hole in it? Hold the dry spaghetti in the hole, that's supposed to be the serving size for one person.
Something like this.

But it's good to have a food scale if you can afford it!0 -
Use loose change.
2 oz of dry spaghetti is about the size of an American nickel.0 -
Fill a 1 cup measuring cup of pasta and pick a few out.0

Quite literally a rule of "thumb"... Make an "ok" symbol with your hand. With your pointer finger touching the middle joint on your thumb, it's about two servings. With the pointer touching where your thumb meets your hand is about one serving.0

You can go by measuring cup, after cooked. About 3/4-1 cup is a serving size. Eventually you'll figure out how much that is by measuring it when you make the "OK" symbol with your fingers, but that varies between people so I suggest using the measuring cup until you've got it measured to yourself.0
