Hello everyone
A lot's happened in the last nine months. I've finished high school, moved out of home, dyed my hair blue, started university, learned how to snowboard, and so much more. But despite all the things that have happened and changed in my life, weight loss was something I was determined to achieve.
I managed to pack on a lot of weight during my final year of school. I spent all day sitting at home, studying crazily, stressing out, and eating chocolate to console myself. I did do quite a bit of sport, but because of what and how much I ate the scale just kept going up and up...and up. When I hit the 70kg (154lbs) mark, I decided something had to be done. I had been put into the 'mildly overweight' range for my height (164cm/5"4.5). And the career path I intend to take is quite physically demanding. That was a major motivation for me.
When I graduated in November (the system's a bit different over here in Australia), I was 150lbs. I started going to the university gym 3-5 times a week, as it is free for students, and have headed down to the aquatic centre on weekends. Since I'm in catered accomodation, the food choices I have are limited, so I've had to be careful. I've had to learn to take the chicken pie and water instead of the cheese and bacon pie with hot chips, gravy, and a sofft drink. That was where MFP came in handy. It held me accountable and kept me in check.
During my weight loss journey I went on two holidays. On the first I gained 4lbs, and on the second 7lbs, but those were just minor setbacks. Today, I stepped on the scales and I've made it to 120lbs. And I think that I've probably rambled enough now. So, without further ado, here are my before and after pics:
BEFORE: (150lbs)
AFTER: (120lbs)

Congrats! You look great.
Thanks for the inspiration! I occasionally browse the Success Stories looking for people like me (mildly overweight). You're pretty much exactly the same height as me, and my absolute worst was 155 (close to yours). Your before picture with the chubby cheeks — yep!
I've only managed to get down to 140 lbs, but stories like yours help me know I can do it. And I can't wait to have a slimmer face to rock some short hair!0 -
