Appliances that motivate me

I got a heart rate monitor (HRM) and a pedometer! I wear the pedometer all day (I serioudly need to walk more!) and the HRM during exercise! It really does motivate you to see the calories burnt and the steps you've taken! I'd really recommend them - I bought mine from Amazon Polar FT& HRM and Omron Pedometer!

I love my garmin. Love the immediacy of the feedback, and the accuracy of the gps.

I am working my way through the 100pushups series of apps (triceps, situps, squats, etc) - love those too. Nice to work through a programme, with something whistling at me telling me to do another set....

Why are Garmin's so good? I have a polar HRM already and MapMyRun on my phone. Will the Garmin add anything to my running experience?

It's more accurate than your phone - much more accurate. You get a much better measure of pace in run. Have you noticed the huge fluctuations in pace on your phone based app? that evens out much more in the garmin. Also, it's easy to add data to a range of programmes (so I integrate mine with runningahead, which I use to plan my workouts, and to mapmyrun and endo, where I have two different communities of friends).
