Just an observation, but after a few salty meal (sometimes I don't pay attention to exactly how salty), the scale will show a 4 pound weight gain - even though I didn't eat enough to gain 4 pounds in 1 day. Aye. Time to add the salt count to my macros. :frown:

Sodium is my mortal enemy. high sodium foods (processed, take out ect.) will cause water retention. I always try to watch my intake and up my potassium if my sodium is high.. and drink tons of water! It will even out in a day or so :)

Sodium enters the blood stream and draws water into the vessels causing more pressure on the walls of the vessels, hence, high blood pressure.

I try to keep mine below 1500, but it is difficult.

Sodium is essential for proper neurological function... but we get SOOOO much more than we need. It is so easy to go over it too.

    It is a bane!

It's especially true because you usually get those really high salt counts when you eat things that aren't that good for you in other ways.

    Double whammy.

I was surprised to find that foods I thought were healthy are pretty high in sodium. Low fat cottage cheese for example - 459 for a 1/2 cup serving.
