A cautionary tale

I wanted to tell you a bit about my story I think it may help both me and other people :)

I always watched my weight and was really yo yo dieter even in my teens. I then after moving cities I got a great job but no social life and piled on the pounds - up to what I think was about 220. I saw a picture of myself one day and was just mortified about how I looked. In those days there was very little help but I started by own diet diary and started working out a little at first but then I joined a team sport where the whole team neeed you every week for practice and the games and that really forced me to get fit. I lost all of it! I went down in about a year and half to 140-145 lbs which was fine by me. I felt great and pretty again I held on for a bit but it started creeping uyp as I travelled for my job. I met my then to be husband and settled down. 10 years later I had gained it all back and then some. I think I started this effort at 228 or there abouts.

I am trying hard after getting diagniosed with diabetes to get fit and healthy again - I am at 198lbs with a long way still to go.

My advice is simple, I know I can do it, because I have done it before - the shame is I should never have put myself in the poistion of having to do it again! If you have success make this a permenant lifestyle change - don't do what I did!!!

Good luck, great work and enjoy this process. It's a learning opportunity.

Why would you bump your own post after only 9 minutes? Give folks a chance to log on a read it.

This is so true and exactly the reason why crash diets fail.
  • Great story... Very motivating

Because people get excited when they share their story. They want feedback. Lighten up:wink:

OP: Way to get back on track!

@ OP: Your tale is one many of us have had. This is a great post and a great reminder for us all. You can do it!

Been on the up and down path myself. In January I was at my all time high, 194. I am doing pretty well, slow and steady. Ready for this to be a permanent change and push myself to keep it this way! Best of luck in your journey.
