Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead

I just watched this documentary called 'Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead" on Hulu and quiet frankly, this has really opened my eyes to juicing! It was inspiring to say the least and would love to try this. I was thinking at least a 7 day cleanse to detox.
Anyone try juicing??
and how about some recipes, weight loss stories????
Thanks in advance!

I just watched it yesterday. Pretty amazing results they had
I don't think I could do it. I'm even hungry when I "only" drink a protein shake, I have to chew my food to feel full.
On another note: I can't imagine that a diet without protein and healthy fats is any good either. At least not for 30-60 days like they did in the documentary.0 -
no juicing thats just bad for your body! why not stick to the tried n true eat healthier routine>?0

Jason vale does some good books.
I did the 7 day one, Jan 2nd 2011, I lost 5 lbs, I wasn't hungry BUT it was REALLY difficult, you just miss chewing it's really weird. I was a bit crazy by the end of it......
I have however put more pounds on since then.
Good luck.0 -

To detox what? Words like cleanse, detox, reboot etc are bandied about as if they actually mean something (in a nutritional context).
Given wholesome foods and adequate fluids (and in the absence of disease) your body does a great job of detoxing and cleansing itself.
Joe would probably have gotten very similar (perhaps better) results had he simply stuck to lots of fruits and vegetables along with lean protein etc. I think juicing may be a great way to supplement your fruit and vegetable intake but I've read too much credible information to consider going on a so-called juice fast.
(I watched the movie too but I don't think I'd refer to it as a documentary)0 -
Hi ya my friend he did it for forty days and lost 28kgs I think he drank only beet root, kale lead ,carrot and apple together every day nothing else he was motivated I tried it for a couple of weeks lost sum but I did it wrong by using too much fruit which had a high sugar content I learnt the hard way first 3 days u detox it's hard but do able good luck I've just begun this journey too :-)0

I admired the guy's tenacity and the influence that he had on other people but I suspect he would have got the same results eating a decent lump of steak and salad every day.0

I watched it the other day and my takeaway was that he could have gotten similar results in a much less extreme way0

I watched this several months ago and was very impressed with him, his results, and the influence he'd had on others, too. But I since then have come to realize that it is not something I can do. Since then I started on MFP, noting everything I eat, exercising, and coming to the realization that obsessing and being fanatical about my weight, diet, lifestyle (whatever you want to call it) is counterproductive and will result in frustration and possibly harm to my body. I am now focusing on being healthy. If the scale moves that is a plus but I NEED to be healthy first and foremost. Just moving has been a huge improvement to my attitude and outlook. I want to live a lifestyle I can live with for now and years to come.
Having said all that, good luck with whatever you decide to do.0 -
IT'S PEOPLE LIKE THIS THAT IS RUINING THIS COUNTRY. NO SPORTS ARE WON BY CLEAN ATHLETES ANYMORE BECAUSE OF PRO-JUICING PROPAGANDA MADE BY THOSE AFFILIATED WITH THE JUICE DEALERS. I'm sorry, I just couldn't resist.0
