Weight training and water retention?

So on Monday I did a pretty intense weight training session. I was incredibly sore the next day. But I was even more sore when I saw the scale. I went up like two pounds. I have heard that sore muscles can cause water retention. Is this true? Does anyone have any experience with this? And am I going to gain every time I weight train?

It's normal, it will stop happening or happen at a minimum after awhile. If I don't drink enough water the day I lift I see a "gain" the next morning.0
