hello Paula - koodos to you for signing up. i lost 10 pounds in a few weeks and then took a break and focused on just keeping the weight off. it's been a couple months and i'm ready to shed some more! tomorrow i start logging in. my only advice is to do some form of exercise. it's VERY gratifying to log it and see you have some extra calories to play with
oh, and my personal trainer told me to count fruit as free for the first week or so and it helped me so very much. i did a couple days before she told me that i just felt i was literally starving. the lower calorie ones of course, i eat a lot of apples, pears and melons. to each their own but i thought i'd mention it if you get discouraged right away!
much luck to you! the site is super user friendly and you'll get the hang of it right away0 -
Hi ladies -
Welcome to MFP!! I have been here for about 3 weeks, and for the first time in my life, I feel like something is working!! So, here are some tips from me to you:
- Make a lot of good, positive friends. I have some that are not only positive, but help me see what I can do better! Love that!!
- Check out the Recipes board - I have made so many new recipes for my family! And, things that 6 months ago, I would have thought there was no way we would eat -- but it was fantastic!!
- And, my biggest tip (which I was a non-believer at first), eat your calories. Don't skimp, or you might see what I saw. I lost alot in week one and then nothing. It wasn't until one of my MFP friends said that I wasn't eating enough, and I started eating...that the weight started to come off again.
- Finally, make this fun!
Congrats on taking that first step!!
