Meals Frequency: what works for you?

How many times a day do you eat? Have you noticed the benefits of many meals or fewer meals?

I eat 3... and sometimes maybe three and a snack.... eating more than that or eating multiple "small ones" makes me hungrier.

I think it is different for everyone - you have to try and find what works for you the best.

I don't track my number of meals, but I tend to eat most of my calories at night in a short period of time. I also tend to eat ice cream right before bed. It works well for me because I'm able to stick to this plan relatively easily.

I eat twice a day, with just coffee and sometimes a piece of fruit (small, usually a clementine) in between. I find that if I eat more frequently, I feel hungrier and get really irritable. Additionally, I usually don't eat until noon or later (even though I get up several hours earlier than that).

I eat 3 meals and will have a few snacks on occasion. I tend to over eat my calories if I go with smaller meals

I eat 6 times a day, starting at 5:30am and usually ending around 8 or 9 pm. I eat that way for 2 reasons. One is because if I don't eat every 2-3 hours I don't feel well, and because I find I can't eat much at once, I get full pretty quickly. 6 small meals makes me feel way better then 3 large ones.

I tend to eat 3 meals with a snack in the afternoon and in the evening. Works for me. It's not better or worse to eat fewer or more meals. Unless you're diabetic.
  • I've tried a variety and eating every few hours didn't work for me because i would over eat each time so i ended up with too many calories. What works for me is 3 larger meals with one snack. I guess it averages out to every 4 hours.

5 or 6. I don't like having any "meal" over about 300 calories. My body is so used to that kind of schedule that I'll get hungry after 2-3 hours no matter what I eat.

1 snack and dinner. I wake up late so that suits me, and I get all my cals in. There are *some* benefits to the leangains style of eating if you train hard and follow it properly (for cutting while retaining muscle as best you can) but generally eat when it suits you. Sticking to a weird eating schedule is stupid if you don't like it.

For the past two weeks I have been eating 6 times a day. So far it seems to be working pretty well. And I don't ever really feel hungry. If I do feel hungry it's because I have gone too long in between meals and snacks. Today however I didn't eat 6 times and now I feel run down and extremely tired.....but you have to find what works for you.

I eat 2 1/2 meals about 5 to 7 hours apart. The half of a meal is really just a highish calorie snack I eat at night to up my calories -- I might be a little hungry but I could take or leave it.

I am a Type 2 Diabetic so I eat 3 main meals and 3-4 snacks daily.... I don't believe in a set time to eat meals but I do follow what works best for my blood sugars.. I go to bed each night with a 400-500 calorie snack.. My main goal is to hit my 3400 calories a day mark... Best of Luck ......

I eat about every few hours. Smaller meals more often definitely works for me.

I'm also lucky that I can keep a stash of health foods at work.

I also find I'm less likely to make bad food/macro choices with smaller meals.
