Couldn't do it... now what?

Literally could not run this morning. Only made it .4 miles before giving up and coming home. Everything hurt/aches from major strength training yesterday, plus that TOM should start today. Trying not to be too hard on myself but I really wanted to have a good run today.

Not all runs are good. Not all runs are great. That's why people get addicted to running. They are chasing after those awesome runs. Once you have one, you'll keep trying to attain it.

Take the good with the bad.

You need a rest day today. Enjoy it.

It sounds like a drug. Maybe I should take up running? :)

Ok, so the mind was willing however the body wasn't....that's natural - we all have different energy levels....have you given up? No...good, tomorrow will come soon enough, try again...don't waste any further energy worrying about it....

Part of being a runner is accepting that there are days when you just can't (or shouldn't!) run!

Listen to your body, take the rest it's telling you it needs, and enjoy your next run even more :)
  • Thanks for the motivation everyone. Trying not to get too down!! Think I'll take the kiddos to the pool to at least get some activity in for today.
Here's to hoping tomorrow is better!

Take a break and enjoy it! Maybe a nice long walk today or just enjoy the rest day. I too wanted to run this morning but the humidity was so high it felt like it was raining so I went and got on the elliptical....not the same but will try for the run again tomorrow.

Everybody has a bad run from time to time. It could be for a variety of reasons. Don't let this get you down. The next time you go out you could very easily have one of the best runs of your life.

One thing I would encourage you to do is instead of going home, just walk the distance you wanted to run. That can help get over the mental frustration that could linger over the bad run.

    Tomorrow is another day!
  • You could have just walked i do that when i 'm super sore it helps loosen up my muscles. well either that or swimming! it really does help make sore muscles recover faster!

Same way I felt last night! If your body is telling you to cool it...then do so! You don't want to overexert yourself!

I hate days like that. Sometimes you just need a rest day, and sometimes you just have to force yourself to go slower and finish your run. Anything is better than nothing, so good for trying. But, man, I have those days where I barely feel like I can run at all and I'm just like... seriously?! I can run a half marathon but some days I don't feel like I can run a mile? You get through it and push mentally.

This is what I do when it's just not happening... I walk to at least move
