Any Deep Water Runners?

I have a running injury and I was strictly told no running for the time being. It might be several months before I'm back to running and I don't want to lose my fitness level. I am biking but with a pool in my own backyard it makes sense to put it into further use. Anyone out there do water running while off on an injury and find it helps?

My impulse is to say that it will be hard for you to get your heart beat up doing water running when you're used to running. That said, I've never tried water running so it might be worth a shot. Have you considered swimming? I know of a few people who have done their first triathlon after a running injury forced them to swim and bike for a few months.

From reading up on it it appears to that my heart rate will be about 10% lower than land running. Not too shabby. Swimming laps is hard for me due to range of motion problems from shoulder surgery.
