This is my typical morning food. I eat Breakfast-1 before going to gym. I do 60 minutes strength training and 30 minutes cardio. Then immediately drink a protein shake on the way home. Then eat Breakfast -2 after its been three hours from Breakfast - 1. I am trying for a gram of protein per lb body weight. I weigh 282 right now at 6'5". It seems like trying for around 300gram protein per day you just about have to drink protein shakes. But they seem to have a lot of calories. Half of my two morning meals calories come from the shakes. Any suggestions on how to get the 300 grams protein and not the calories...or should I even worry about it?

  • Frankly, I wouldn't really worry much about it as you're a big dude and likely can use the calorie intake. It's certainly a whole lot cheaper to use Protein Shakes than buying meat. Also, consider that a 4oz serving of boneless chicken breast is ~170 calories with 32g of protein it's in the same ballpark calorie wise.

Some other options to mix it up:

    Fish
1% or Non-Fat Cottage Cheese are a great option. Very low calorie per serving, very low carb and packs a Protein punch. 1c is about 180 calories, 10g Carbs, 2g Fat and 28g Protein.

I eat a lot of fish. That is my hobby. I fish. I baked flounder last night and redfish tonight. I used to buy the Walmart frozen chicken breast but I cut out sodium and was surprised they were packed with Sodium. I also eat 4oz cup of cottage cheese before bed for the slow release protein while I sleep.

Thanks for the help...I got to find some chicken without salt.
