IMPULSE EATING

I work around food and a whole bunch of sweets... Does anyone have tips on controlling impulse eating?

Just say no. I work in an office with a never ending supply of leftover meeting food (pastries, muffins, etc.) and candy on every admin's desk. Honestly, it just comes down to wanting to lose weight more than you want the instant and quick gratification of something sweet. No one can give you the willpower, you have to want it for yourself.

I know it is tough but you can do it if you really want it!

I've started thinking of foods as their calories - kind of like a price tag on a dress - and I think, wow, I would love that, but it's not "worth the money." With work food, I also think about how many people have touched it, etc. and that usually skeeves me out enough that I don't want it.

I keep something on hand for when I really want a treat so I can still have something sweet, but more "budget friendly." I also try and get a drink when I think I really want something. Then I at least get distracted for a while!

I have always loved sweets - but I have also honestly noticed a difference in the past few weeks as I have eaten more protein (and protein at every meal). I don't feel quite the same urge to eat and I don't crave the sweets as much. I NEVER thought I would ever say that.

Drink something like a cup of tea or coffee instead of eating junk food and another thing you can do is bring your own healthier food to eat. If you bring your own food, you get to enjoy eating something, but you won't feel guilty about it.

    Good luck.

P.S. The shopping idea is great.
