Hi,
I finally decided that to lose weight I just need to go back to basics. Count calories in and calories out. I have been trying to lose weight for a while now - mainly for my health, but also to feel better about myself. I have about 50 pounds that I would ideally like to lose, but I'm going to set small goals. My first goal is 5 pounds. If I make that I will be vey happy!

You have come to the right place. Honestly the good old fashion exercise and calorie counting is the only way to really make a lasting change that you can live with. That's the name of the game - doing drastic things that you won't be able to keep up for the rest of your life makes no sense. Making small changes one at a time that you can live with is how this will work for the rest of our lives.
The Food Diary is an excellent tool that will increase your knowledge about the calories each food item 'costs' and help you to balance your meals. And the advice on the forums is fantastic.
