Hi everyone. Before getting pregnant i was in the best shape of my life. I was still overweight but i was jogging three times a week an doing other exercises in between. I had done my first 5k and loved the feeling of crossing the finish line. Due to complications during pregnancy I was unable to exercise throughout. I am now at the heaviest I've ever been. My son is 11 weeks old and nothing fits. I have started my way back to jogging by using the Couch to 5k program, however my knees are killing me. I am eating everytihng in site out of boredom from being home with the baby. I need a little motivation in the food category and some advice for running at over 200 pounds. How do you keep your knees from hurting? Thanks.

  • You'll get plenty of advice, I'm sure, but hopefully you'll find what works best for you and your body. My advice is to start out with power walking. Now that your little one is 11 weeks old, maybe you can load him up in the stroller and go for a brisk walk or very light jog - maybe you can alternate the two. Once your knees feel a bit better and your body adjusts to this exercise, then consider moving up the intensity a bit. You've had a lot of time off from working out but your body has been through a lot in the last few months. Jumping right back into a heavy workout routine may be what you mentally want, but your body doesn't sound like it's quite ready for that just yet. I'm no doctor, so definitely touch base with your general care physician before you start any kind of intense workout.
