New here

Hello all,

I don't usually check out the message boards on these sites, but there's a 1st time for everything. We all have our stories/reasons why we're here, and here's mine in a nutshell:

In 2007 my brother died from Melanoma (he was 45).
In 2008 I was laid off from my job, along with 2 million other people in the country. Needless to say, not being able to get a job for 2 years really messed with my self-esteem. The wieght started piling on.
In 2010, my father was diagnosed with prostate cancer.
At the beginning of this year, my sister was diagnosed with Sarcoma (she's 45).

I'm going on 39. The 'Big 40' doesn't scare me, making it to 45 is my goal. I know I'm fat (5'4", 189 lbs), and I know cancer runs in my family. When my sister was diagnosed, it really hit home. I know my DNA has the potential to devolop some nasty form of cancer, and I don't want to enable it. I've started this journey (AGAIN!!) and this time I really feel like I'm fighting for my life.

Good luck to everyone!!! Wish me the same!
