What should I buy

I've been doing research on Heart rate monitors, accelerometers, and multiple sensor monitors. What is the most cost effective, and which one is more beneficial. I was thinking the fitbit, but it doesn't have a heart rate monitor. Then I saw there was a yearly fee of $50.(Not really that big of a deal). If anyone knows anything off hand, this is what i'm looking for. I would like something that tracks heart rate, tracks calories burned, and calorie intake. I don't need fancy, and if possible something waterproof that I can wear swimming. Maybe the fitbit will work and I can just get an inexpensive heart rate monitor. How important is knowing your heart rate?

FitBit doesn't have a yearly fee, unless you buy the premium plan but you don't need it at all.
I have the FitBit and a Polar FT4 HRM - I use both. The fitbit is good for wearing all day and if you do more walking/running exercises. The HRM is better for everything else - and I believe it is waterproof so you could use it swimming. For walking stuff - the FItBit just figures those calories for me. For other exercises I use the HRM and it calculates the calories burned which I then log into MFP.0
