Sugar addiction and alcohol

I have been enslaved to this evil sugar addiction for many, many years now. I HATE IT.
For those of you who have an addiction to sugar.... do you all 100% abstain from alcohol? In the sugar addiction books I have read, it defines alcohol to be liquid sugar.

For you true sugar addicts out there.... what do you do about this?

    I do not have the issue but my husband does. When he was younger he said he drank himself into a 'coma', and would chuckle about it. Come to find out, the truth is, he likely was close to a coma many times. It took him a year after realizing his physical issue with sugar and alcohol, to finally give up the alcohol. Sadly, he did it with candy. When he physically craved to drink, he ate candy.
    I am hoping he will soon realize he is not much better off. His father died of diabetes, and my husband is on a fast train towards it himself.
