I will be starting a challenge group in about a month that will include daily assignments with giveaway and prizes for participation and dedication. If you have any question please feel free to ask or join my group. Loosing weight its possible with PCOS and this had made it fun for me and given me hope. Good luck ladies Heres a little bit about me!
MY WHY ON BECOMING A COACH- Is first of all ME! I have struggled with my weight since I can remember. I am the oldest of 5 younger siblings, and the only short and fat one, literally. My 15 year old sister is 5’6 and skinny as a rail, and my two brothers are over 6 feet and have no fat on them. Not to mention my mother has had 6 children and is 5’6 and weighs 120 lbs maybe lol.
Since I have had my first daughter when I was just 16 I was never able to lose that extra 25lbs I put on during my first pregnancy. I tried everything to lose it but could never lose over 7lbs. My husband and I stared trying about 3 years ago to have our second child. After several months of trying I knew something was off. I never had a normal period and haven’t been on birth control since I was 18 because it made me sick. I also had gained another 40lbs to add to that 25 a year before. I thought that could be why I wasn’t able to get pregnant. I tried to lose weight and eat better by doing a 500 calorie crash diet. Lost about 22lbs but as soon as I got off it I gained it right back plus 15 more.
I finally decided to see a doctor that turned into 3 more doctors. Everyone told me I was so young lose some weight and have more sex, yes more than one doctor told me that. No blood test, no ultrasound, just to lose weight. I tried that! Finally after watching a Dr.Oz episode I heard about PCOS, polycystic ovarian syndrome. I printed about all the info and brought it to my doctor. After several blood tests and an ultrasound I discovered I had a pretty severe form of pcos. It explained all my symptoms. They put me on metformin, which is a diabetic drug that helps with pcos because I am insulin resistant, and 2 months later I was pregnant. I wished it took longer because I really wanted to lose more weight. After another difficult pregnancy and high blood pressure which was leading to my second time of preeclampsia I had another beautiful daughter 6 weeks early. My first daughter was 6 week early as well due to preeclampsia and weighed 3lbs 13oz and was in the hospital for a month. My second daughter was 4lbs 5oz and spent a month in the hospital and came home on a heart monitor for a month. My daughter told me that preeclampsia is rare in second pregnancy and that it has been linked to pcos.
Sorry for the rant, but my back story has a lot to do with my why and leads into my second why, my daughters. PCOS is a genetic disorder that I will have for the rest of my life, weight loss will lessen the symptoms, but I will struggle with it. I have overcome many many things in my life. I become a young mother at 16, but still getting my diploma and continuing my college education at USF. My husband and I have been married for almost 5 years, and I am able to stay at home with my children because he works so hard. We own are own house and live debt free. We have both worked are *kitten* off and overcome all odds to make our dream a reality. Our success has been driven by setting the example for our children, to never give up. My weight has been an obstacle for so long that I had given up. My daughter is now 14 months and I am the heaviest I have ever been, about 80lbs over weight. I don’t want my daughter to struggle with this, if one of them do have this I want to show them that you can overcome it and it is possible to be healthy and maintain a healthy weight. This is something I struggled throughout my teen years and didn’t even know it, the more weight I gained the worse it got. I don’t want them to have the same struggles I had or feel doomed.
My last and final why is for my husband. Well kind of. About a year ago he lost about 70lbs so he could are to airborne school, he is in the army. He now is training for a marathon and is runs 10 miles for fun on a Saturday. I would love not only to keep up with him, but make the difference he has made with others he has worked with. He is my role model. He believes in me, way before I believed in myself.
By next summer we would like to start trying for our last child, hopefully a boy for my husband. I would like to be in excellent shape and have a normal pregnancy. Having two NICU babies was the hardest thing in my life and I would like to know what its like to not be on bed rest and take my baby home when I go. My daughters are two healthy beautiful girls now, thank god! I have been truly blessed in my life and I know with support of my family and my faith in God that I can finally overcome the one thing that has been such a big part of my life and turn it into something positive.
I become a coach not to just to make the change in me, but others as well. PCOS is a nasty thing and so many women that I have talked to struggle with fertility, weight is a big part of that. I want to show
others it is possible to take over PCOS and not let it take over you.
