Does running the same distance.. burn the same calories as walking that distance?

The myth busted!

But only for speeds of <5 mph!

I have also read articles that really stress time over distance. Really you should be either running (or walking for lower impact exercise) at least 20 minutes as it takes your body over 12 minutes to start burning fat over sugar.

I have done both and think that when combined you get the best workout! Running for the days you have massive amounts of energy, or a nice 45 min walk just to get the endorphins going!

The way my brain works- Id assume working harder burns more- never considered walking to be the same calorie burn as running (equal distances, not equal speeds obviously) - someone had to prove that? Seems logical to me?
