Starvation and Carb Phobia

After spending all day today helping people on here with their diets I've noticed 2 things. Almost everyone I talked to was either starving themselves or had this deep fear of carbohydrates.
First off - DON'T STARVE YOURSELF. I know that weight loss is about calories in and calories out but if you starve yourself you body is going to take notice. You are going to hit a plateau and with your calories so low you basically ran yourself into a wall with no way out. Fat loss is a journey, you cant just jump to the finish line. If you cut out all of your variables all at once you have nothing to work with when you plateau. Start at maintenance levels and SLOWLY reduce your calories from there. That way when you hit a wall you can bump cardio a bit, then at the next wall drop calories just a bit, and so on and so fourth.
Second - DON'T BE AFRAID OF CARBS. carbohydrates are your bodies main source of energy. and should be the easiest variable to play with while dieting. once again if you go low carb you just screwed yourself out of a variable. Too many people are afraid of carbs and eating WAY too much protein to make up for it. Guess what, your body isnt stupid and it will figure out how to turn protein into glucose through the process called GLUCONEOGENESIS. This process is not efficient at all and taxes the body heavily. Ingesting carbs will give you more energy throughout the day and thus you will feel better, and workout harder. The only time i EVER recommend cutting out carbs completely is for professional bodybuilders pre contest, and guess what, they look great but they're also EXTREMELY healthy and miserable at that time.
Anyways that's my rant for the day. Eat your carbs, don't starve yourself (if your below 1500 calories a day your pushing it). Control your portions. Be happy and live your damn life without fearing everything you put in your body.
