ADDICTED TO SUGARY/UNHEALTHY/JUNK FOOD.

Hi all,

Basically, I've been trying to lose excess body fat & tone up for god knows how long now...tried dieting soooooo many times but it just does.not.work due to my addiction to sugary food e.g. chocolate, biscuits, cake. I could seriously live off this type of food, and when I say there is no limit to how much I could consume were my shape/health not of any concern to me, I am NOT exaggerating. What I've been doing recently is trying to limit my sugar intake to a healthy/normal amount during the week, but this just means I completely binge on the weekend. I am aware of the dangers of sugar and how it is hindering my fat loss etc....I fully know what a balanced, nutritious weight loss diet entails, so am not looking for replacement food ideas (fruit over cake....it isn't exactly rocket science). What I want is some practical advice on how to curb my sugar cravings and stop binge eating. Sticking a picture of Jessica Ennis on the kitchen cupboard would probably be a good start...!

Thanks ! x

if your craving sugar the best ways of winging off is substituting... protein shakes are an amazing way of adding in a bunch of fruit that have natural sugar instead of the processed stuff your used to...

I was very addicted to carbs...then I found out I was gluten intolerant. So I had to cut pasta, bread, pizza, etc from my diet. Magically I began to loose weight. Ok, not magically - but you get the idea. We all know that this kind of food is unhealthy - for me it was causing severe pain. If you think about it, in the long run the sugary and unhealthy food will cause you pain - maybe not today - but soon enough. I can substitute corn or rice pasta when I really have a bad craving. So perhaps handle a craving for a chocolate bar with a luna bar or fruit/nut bar. Also portion control is important too. When I do have that corn/rice pasta, I measure out a cup before putting it in the pot to boil. So can you try to portion out what you eat during each week? So many cookie/junk food companies sell things in 100 calorie packs now. Or you can portion things out ahead of time in snack bags.

I know how you feel...a large coke is like crack to me. They say that sugar hits the same parts (and has the same effects) of the brain as crack does. This doesn't really help you but it shows me why I am so addicted to these foods (there is sugar in EVERYTHING). I don't like being addicted. Kinda ticks me off actually. I can say I have never smoked, drank, or done drugs...yet I am still addicted? I don't like giving any one thing that much power over me.

I'm the same way. I have no just not have them around. I love chocolate, cookies, brownies....and no, sorry, I don't have the willpower to eat one. Not to mention they are easy to grab on the go chasing my kids around! Some people recommend making some of your favorite treats and freezing it in individual portions, and I might try doing that. I've also tried to use sweetener not sugar and it has helped.

Perhaps you need to see your Dr.? This is a good place to start if you are seriously addicted to sugar...might be symptomatic of underlying problems.

Avoid Three White Devils – Sugar, White Flour, Milk Four if you add processed foods.

Sugar can be harmful to your organs, lowers your energy, rots your teeth, and makes you gain weight when it is present in your food on a regular basis. Substitute with stevia all natural and almost calorie free.

Flour is bleached. Dead. It is an empty food stripped of all nutrition where only compressed sugar remains. Flour does nothing for your health. No vitamins or minerals, just loads of empty calories. Over time this leads to obesity, diabetes, atherosclerosis, cardiovascular disease. When you see flour, think compressed sugar. If you must 100% whole wheat.
Google foods that are low calorie density they are usually high in fiber and high in water content....watermelon for example.

More specifically, pasteurized and homogenized milk. Here are two very interesting facts

Humans are the only animal that drinks another animal’s milk.
A calf cannot survive on pasteurized milk.

Milk from cows is designed to double a calf's weight with in 60 days......substitute Almond Milk as an example. Calcium can be found in many foods. Google for a list of these foods.
