Im starting a new thread. We have exactly 2 months before christmas! I think we all know that alot can change in two months, including our life style habits and our bodies.
So does any one want to join me for this 2 month challenge?
Our weekly weigh in can be on Sundays.

My starting weight as of today is 146
Goal weight for christmas 130Lbs
I know we can do this and start 2010 off good and just continue to improve ourselves.

I have other goals as well
1. Lose the weight
2. Better eating habbits
3. Do the best I can in school and work.
4. Less arguing with my husband.

Please do share your personal goals as well!
Remember...."What we do today in our lives, will affect what tomarrow brings."
Together we can do this!!!

Awesome! We have really similar stats and goals , I'm 149, aiming for 130 by Christmas as well

However, for the next few weeks, I'm being super strict with myself, because 3 weeks last Friday is my 19th birthday, and I wanna look great in the dress I bought :)

My goals over the next 3 weeks are to eat 1200cal of healthy nutritious food, and cut back my fat & sugar intake (won't be too hard, I've started making a lot more from scratch because its cheaper, and I find I'm craving the wholesome foods more and more now . I'm also going to to do JM's 30 day shred, but I'm going to do each section for a week instead of 10 days, so it will be 21 days, and try to get half an hour of cardio in.

After the 3 weeks, I'm just going to try and go to the gym 3x a week :)
And I should probably try to be a bit nicer to my boyfriend, and stop procrastinating so much in school :blushing:

I'm not sure about weigh-ins, 'cause I don't have a scale right now, but I'll if I'm losing by the way my clothes fit.

    Take care!

Sounds like we're pretty close on weight and end goals! I'm in a couple other support groups, but can always use another one to keep me on my toes, checking in, and accountable!

My weight as of today is 140 (re-started at 142 pounds a week ago after being gone for 3/4 of the year).
I'm aiming to get to 139 by Nov 1st - and lose 5 pounds a month - which should place me at 129 by January 1st .

For goals - I really really want to be back down to the skinny me. I've always been a little pudgy/chubby - all through childhood, teen years (nothing hugely obese - but enough to get my share of fat jokes). I lost it all in basic training and tech school, and was at my skinniest than of about 125-128. Then I gained it all back through poor eating habits and very little (if any) exercise (back then, the air force wasn't overly big on mandatory group PT). I lost it back in 2001 on a deployment - better eating and lots of gym time... but once I got back to the states, I wound up putting it all back on again... just wasn't keeping active. Then, back in 2005 I just shed it all. I kind of wanted to lose the weight, but I was actually focused on building strength and endurance so I could be a more challenging sparring partner to the guys I trained with... and I was very active. I was going to group PT sessions, I was also exercising on my own, and training in MMA 4-5 times a week for about 2 hours a session. I dropped down to 128-131, and maintained there till I got out of the Air Force in january 2007. Enter in the bad eating habits and lack of physical activity - and it all came back. In March/April of 2008 I was about 148, and worked a little to get the weight down.. but stopped after a few pounds lost. Then back in february of this year, I started with this site - started weight training, and began losing the weight again. I was about 137-138 when I stopped working at it (made excuses, put off exercise till it became a habit not to even think about it)...

I decided I've put it off long enough. I'm going to get back down to 125-128, and I'm going to figure out what routine I'll need to keep it steady at that level. And for me, being at that weight isn't just a number... I want my physical strength back, my flexibility, and my cardio stamina... all three of those areas have gone downhill since I left the military and stopped training in mixed martial arts.

So - here's to hoping that if I put myself out here in these groups, I can keep my motivation going. This time I'm not going to give up (whether via actively quitting or negligence).

Hey! I was actually just showing your pre-success story photos to my husband the other day!
It was one of those "Wow... reading through these success stories is so inspiring - check out this before and after photo - isn't that amazing!!!"
I'm on this website all the time now, it seems... my husband probably is wondering if I'm addicted - but examples like yours really give me hope that I'll finally get to where I want to be with my physical fitness :-)
So yay - welcome to the group! I'm positive you'll hit your dream weight in what seems like no time at all! :-)

I'm not sure if I'll be able to make the weekly weigh ins, just because I live in a dorm, and I don't have a scale here :(

But I will definitely keep you updated on how my pants fit lol.
  • Hi, I'd like to join this group too. The last support group I joined kinda fizzled out. I also have similar stats, I'm 149 right now and it would be a DREAM to be 130 by Christmas. My ultimate goal is 120. I'm getting married in the summer of 2011 and I know that sounds like forever away, but I don't want to be stressed out trying to lose weight and shopping for wedding dresses that make me feel like a stuffed sausage :-) A happier, healthier lifestyle is of course the real win though. I've been at this for a few weeks now and while I see my body changing a bit, I haven't seen much response from the scale. What are you all going to be focusing on in terms of exercise/ eating?

As silly as it sounds - I've been using the Wii for the majority of my workouts... Usuaully their My Fitness Coach game. It's like an exercise DVD, except that it tailors it to the individual, changes up the routines each time you use it, and you can choose specific focuses each day (flexibility, yoga, upper body, lower body, core, and of course, cardio).

I usually burn around 200 + calories per 30 minute workout. Occasionally I'll also use the Wii Fit - and set it to the Free Step option, stack the balance board on an aerobics step, and turn it into 30 minutes of stair climbing. (which burns about 270 calories for me).

I should start strength training soon too.... I'll probably work on something this week to start tossing back in my old weight training program...

I have found that the calorie estimate the My Fitness Coach gives me is much less than what my heart rate monitor says. For accuracy, the heart rate monitor is what I go with - and I highly recommend investing in one if at all possible, as it really helps keep track of calories burned while doing exercise.
  • Thanks for the tip! I'm going to put it on my wish list

I'm kickin' it up today! Increasing daily cardio to 60 minutes :)
Two days ago I started phase 2 of Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred, it sure tuckers me out
    How's everyone doing?
  • Do you guys mind if I join?
    SW- 177
    CW - 149
    GW - 120
I am hoping to break into the 130's by the end of the year! I am currently running everyday and rotaiting between JM 30 day shred and Jari Love's Burn video. I just purchased Turbo Jam and really looking forward to starting!

So... yesterday my scale told me 138, and I thought it was a fluke... so I weighed myself today (both times first thing upon waking up, empty stomach), and it told me 137... I'm not going to update my weight tracker till Sunday though.... I'm wondering if maybe this sudden quick weight loss is partly because I'm finished with that TOM, and I'd actually been retaining water for that time frame... if so... there stands a bit of a chance that this 137-138 weight might actually be the accurate one for me..? We shall see come Sunday!
If it is, I'm so excited! It means I'm probably burning enough calories to account for a closer to 2 pound loss a week instead of a 1 pound loss :-)
