Running with Asthma

I have asthma, which is pretty moderate as long as I am not exercising. My lungs have been really weak since I was in 9th grade, when I was hospitalized for 2nd-hand smoke. At that point in my life, I was very active (track, soccer team, tennis, marching band, and church volleyball). Since then, my activity level has been decreasing drastically.

I need help figuring out the easiest way to get back into running, when you have asthma. I no longer have my inhaler, as I can't afford the prescription.. and I can't even make it from one street corner to the next anymore without passing out. I miss my jogging days...HELP!!!!! It has me really depressed. :frown:

Casey- you should be careful if you are running without an inhaler. You could die if you have an attack and nothing to help you. If your lungs are weak you should really try to maybe just power walk until you can afford an inhaler. I know this doesn't really answer your question, but I have developed asthma and know how it feels to not have an inhaler when I am running.... it's awful and really dangerous.
