I was originally just going to leave the chairs without covers at my wedding. Today I was to my hall to look around again and saw a wedding set up with beautiful chair covers! I automatically started looking around for some for my wedding and remembered why I was going to go without to begin with... they are so expensive! Even renting them costs at least $1.50 per chair. I am going to have about 160 people at the wedding, that adds up quickly!!! So have any of you went without covers? Did anyone say anything?
What do you notice at a wedding?

Skip the covers seriously they don't matter. I got married in.3 days cost hardley anything and 7 years later we are so happy together. It's the love that matters not the small expensive details. Best of luck xoxo0

They aren't important, but I had them because the chairs in the place we got married in we're horrible and it made the room look much better! But if the chairs are nice on their own then why bother. You could always just do sashes/bows as a compromise?
Don't worry about what anyone else thinks, people don't remember the little details, they remember whether they had a good time and if the food was good mainly!0 -
I agree - leave the chair covers unless the chairs are really vile (but even that is a subjective judgement).
As mdelcott says, it's not detail like that which matters - what really matters is the sense of occasion and the love and commitment.
I got married in 3 and a half weeks flat (and NOT because of the baby - she came 3 years later!) - hubby and I are still here 36 years later and we were VERY glad that so little fuss was made about our wedding, as we didn't have time to worry about such details.0 -
I run a chair cover business as well as being a nurse, contact five companies then play them against each other. If I am not busy on the day and I have nothing better to do my prices tumble. Most companies will do work for the day for 150 dollars despite your large number of chairs.0

Honestly no-one will notice. I have NEVER been to a wedding and focused my attention on whether or not the chairs were covered. Enjoy your day without incurring unnecessary expense :flowerforyou:0

I had to work nights for a bit so I could care for our son during the day and still bring money in. I worked in a banquet room putting on weddings.
Here's the thing about chair covers and sashes, they look good when noone is in the room. As soon as everyone comes in and sits down, you don't see them at all.
Yes, they are pretty and look great. Are they really all that practical and worth the money? No, I don't really think so.0 -
I don't plan on getting chair covers. If you really, really love them then you should. However, in my opinion that's money better allocated to food and music.
People will remember fantastic food and music. Chair covers, they probably won't.0 -
I went to a wedding reception that had naked chairs. HOW DISGUSTING! We picked up our wedding gift, got our meals to-go, and promptly left the sordid affair.
yeah, right. sure we did.
Wouldn't you rather have people looking at the beautiful bride instead of gaping at and admiring the chairs? I mean really, isn't it all about the bride anyway?0 -
I think when you walk into an empty room and see the chairs all covered and bowed they do look lovely.....but on your day you will be walking into a room that is filled with people. Guaranteed within 10 mins all the mens jackets will be off and hung on the back of the chairs anyway so you wont even get to se them. I vote skip it!!0

I've been to several weddings and I can't remember anything about the chairs in any of them. Except one that was in a church with uncomfortable pews.0

I agree too! My husband was a very important part of our wedding!!0 -
Chair covers may look nice, but they really are a waste of money. If you have extra to spend, spend it on centerpieces that will make the tables look nice. The first thing I notice at a wedding reception are the tables, never paid too much attention to chair, they're just something to sit on.0

I really don't like chair covers. I think they are unattractive. But that's just my opinion!
Save yourself the money. No one will mind and as another poster said the men's jackets will be on the backs of chairs so soon you won't even be able to tell.0 -

i agree! my wedding is coming up in october and i have made it my mission to make sure it was "our" day, not just mine. my fiance's thoughts and opinions with the wedding planning was just as important0 -
I didn't need chairs or a chruch.
I only needed my woman and the justic of the peace.
12 years later we are still happy.
I vote no for chair covers.0 -

Ah, wishful thinking! But in the real world I would bet 90% of the weddings are about the bride, and maybe 10% are about the couple. I have yet to see any tv shows about "groomzilla".0 -
I've always been a little put off by the notion that it is "the brides day".
Me too, but I'm fighting an uphill battle.
I prefer simple and fun, with a focus on two people starting their lives.
What seems to be the norm or the fantasy is more about the band or the dj, the food, the cake, the chairs, the tables, who is sitting where, what kind of limo/carriage to use, open bar or cash bar, do the bridesmaids shoes look okay, and on and on and on...0 -

HIGH FIVE!!!!
My wife and I took a half day off from work on Friday afternoon and went to the JP with my father and my wife's best friend as witnesses. I guarantee none of us remember what the chairs looked like. That was 27 years ago :bigsmile:0 -
Me and my husband were married at a picnic shelter with picnic tables. 15 years later everybody talks about how hot and windy it was that day and how I mooned the patstor that married us! Make it a fun day and the chairs will never be a part of the memories. Its about you and him sharing a joyous moment in your life with those closest to you.0
