Steel Cut Oatmeal

I don't know what it is about steel cut oats but if I eat a bowl every morning, it seems my weight is much more manageable. If I go a week or so without eating it (because I don't take the time to cook it), I gain a couple of pounds. I've noted this time and time again. So now I make a batch of steel cut oats; it takes 20 to 30 minutes to do it right, and then portion it out in small containers. I get six servings from 1 cup of oats in 4 cups of water. Then it's much easier to heat up every morning, even on work days. Sprinkle of cinnamon on top, a little milk of choice (skim, almond or soy...I mix it up!), maybe some raisins...What can I say? For me, it works!

I don't know if I agree with you on the weight part, but the rest I'm with you 100%.
I do mine in a rice cooker. I set it up the night before using 1 little cup of oats to 3 regular cups of water. I add 1/2 cup raisins and 1 cubed apple. In the morning I hit the switch and go out for a walk. 20 minutes later its done cooking. Makes 4 one cup servings. I eat one and put the others in small containers for the next three days worth of breakfast.0
