I think they may be a juniors size. 6/8 is fine!

I'm 5'5" so I'm an inch shorter but my stats are 130/ 27/34 and I wear a size 4/6. I also believe that size 7 is Jr sizing so they fit differently than woman's/misses sizes.

general rule is subtract 3 from juniors size to get your misses size. For example 13 in juniors is 10 in misses

I am 5'5 currently wearing 5s, but I weigh 133lbs. I don't think my belly measurements and hips will help much, I am 4months pregnant. lol. But I used to weigh 123-125lbs wore size 0-2 in misses and 3s in jrs , belly 26ins/ hips 31

7s are still too big for me at my weight. So it mostly depends on body shape :)

In general, Junior sizes are straighter. They don't have the curvy shape that women's pants have.

I don't know that they run smaller but fit differently. I think they are smaller in the hips so I would always have to get a bigger size in Jrs. I don't even bother to look in that department anymore because I find the misses sizes fit much better.

At 123 pounds with a 29" waist and 35" hips I usually wear a misses size 4, sometimes 2, or juniors size 7, sometimes 5. Junior sizes are less curvy with slim thighs relative to the waist, which is how I happen to be built.

edited to add: I can often wear a size 14 or 16 in girls' sizes. Clothing made for juveniles carry larger size numbers for a given absolute size because the low end of their size ranges have to start smaller to fit immature bodies.
