Any Orlando residents here ?

Hello all,

Not wishing to turn this into a holiday forum, but is anyone here from the Orlando / Kissimmee area ?

I've read all the tourist website's but where are the places you would recommend eating? Where do the locals go to eat ?

Thanks

Stu

    Orlando here. :)

TOTALLY depends on what you are looking for, as far as cuisine. There's really no such thing as "Florida" cuisine- it tends to lean towards seafood, and spanish-based food.

There are a lot of amazing restaurants here though! Orlando is pretty well known for it these days.
  • I've heard the Loving Hut is good for vegan/veggie options but I haven't tried it yet.

The best places I know to eat are in the northern area of Orlando. Thai House in downtown on Colonial is amazing, also 4Rivers BBQ is excellent and that's in Winter Park.

 Our choices when we go out, with out-of-town friends and on our own (tho we don't go out a lot anymore- saving $!)

    Seafood: Moonfish & Roys
Steakhouse: Moonfish, Charlie's Steakhouse, and Texas de Brazil
Tapas: Ceviche Tapas Bar & Restaurant & Cafe Tu Tu Tango's
Wings/Sports bar: Orena's (near sea world)
Italian- Carrera's (not expensive) Timpanos (expensive)
    Thai- Thai Thani
    "American"- O'Charley's
    Orlando Ale House

Dinner Show: (comedy) Sleuth's Mystery Dinner Show
Piano bar: Howl at the Moon (our favorite place!!!)
Cheap(er) drink at Universal Studios: Cigarz at CityWalk (upstairs across from Panda Express)
Bar Louie! Great place! $2 build-your-own burgers on Tuesday's. :)

EDIT: these are all located in the attractions area- Dr. Phillips, I-Drive, Universal Blvd area. (where I live and work)

The Ravenous Pig in Winter Park for really good food, but don't be on a diet. The Tasitng room and The Chef's Table at the Edgewater in Winter Garden if you want something special on the West side.

How in the hell did I forget about Ale House? That's my FAV place to go. Good cheap food with cold beer. They have locations all over the place. Another of my favorite 'splurge' places is Kobe Japanese Hibachi. The BEST hibachi I've ever had. They've also got locations all over the place.

China168 in Dr Philips on Turkey Lake rd next to the Golds Gym. I walk over there several times a week. Great family, great food, healthy options, and low prices, especially lunch.
