Man vs Food

  • He actually no longer does Man Vs. Food and actually stopped doing in in 2010 because of the weight he gained and how hard it was on his health. He now host's a show called Adam Richman's Best Sandwich in America, still food that's not good for you but it's still better then some of the food he was eating.

Good for him! I was more on about the restaurants and menu items that were featured in this program. And people feeling so relaxed ordering them.

I love this show. I can't even imagine how anyone could eat that much in one sitting, though.

Also, aren't the issues with his weight and health the reason he now presents 'Man vs Food Nation' instead?

Food Nation only lasted Until April 2012 when he started Best Sandwich in America

Aaah, see we're still on Food Nation over here in the UK!
  • Where have you been?
They did 4 or 5 seasons of just Adam Richman alone, then he "coached"others.
He is from Brooklyn via a Master's Degree in drama from Yale, so he knows how to entertain.
You mentioned 1,000 calories? I would think many dishes were closer to 5,000 calories.

There is another word for shows like this "Food Porn".

I live in UK, never seen that guy or any of his other programs before.

I love man vs food but i still think the portion sizes And amount of fried food he eats is disgusting. But it's just an entertainment show, it's not trying to educate or advocate a lifestyle!
^^ This! I love the show and would love to try some of the foods he samples, not in the quantity he does though! The serving sizes blow me away!

It has been on the food channels for few years now, but it's not something a lot of people in the UK will have seen as not everyone has sky and if they do they probably don't watch those channels. Although they are showing the old Man vs Food on Dave now!

Same here. I only saw the show for the first time today because its on a channel which is not the most popular. I thought it was amazing because I love everything to do with food but I will admit that it was disgusting(but in a good way!).

  • I dont understand HOW he stays the size he is.

    erm...

Ha! I love the show, and I love Adam, but this pic made me chuckle. You can definitely notice that his waistline had grown along with his popularity.

Yeah, it's purely challenges for entertainment. My son and I watch it all the time.

I agree love this program! its funny, entertaining, and wow can that boy eat!...he must work out like an olympic athlete!!!! if anyone is daft enough to be spurred on to eat his portion sizes, they really need to go back to school lol!.....
  • I dont understand HOW he stays the size he is.

Apparently when he was still making the show he only ate vegetarian when he wasn't filming the show and worked out twice a day while on the road for filming. He'd also try not to eat a day before a challenge.

EDIT: Apparently he didn't take as much care in the "newer" episodes, obviously I was either watching re-runs or I was just oblivious to the weight gain.

Love all of his shows. It is entertainment and yes it should be allowed. I personally don't watch shows like Biggest Loser any longer because it shows a very unrealistic way for us to all lose weight. But I don't insist it goes off the air.

Jerry springer shouldn't be allowed. Toddlers in tiaras shouldn't be allowed either. It's tv. Just turn it.

Well said...I watch Man vs Food and wonder if he gets free health insurance, life insurance for eating all that.

Food challenges are all over the USA, everything from the biggest steak to the biggest burrito. Here is America bigger is always better seems to be our theme. Sure that isn't right and there is nothing we can do about it. I'm just surprised he hasn't gained a ton of weight....he must walk from one location to the next to burn off those calories.

Hey Chris... yoohoo Mr Davey... Here's your chance to casually mention that you handed Adam a hiding on a recent challenge.

What you Americans worship as an eating machine, we Aussies smash without a second thought! :smokin:

If we're going to take programs off the air for "the good" of us, that's not where I'd start. It's just a show. Just like watching any of the cooking shows on tv. I know that I can't cook all of Giada's recipes on a regular basis, or Barefoot Contessa's - purely entertainment.

I used to love Man vs. Food. I thought it was interesting. And crazy. But, last summer I was watching a marathon while I was pregnant (and living in a hotel for 6 weeks while waiting to close on our house) and I was hit with the worst food poisoning ever. As in, I had to go to the ER because I was so dehydrated and in so much pain. So now that show is forever linked with my sickness and pain. So I can't watch it.

Apparently he worked out daily and fasted the day before a challenge so he would have a better chance of eating it. Some of the food looks damn good and makes me want to go to USA to try it, but man - the calories in it? I would have to fast for a year to be able to try some of them!!

why the heck would you want to ban it? there are far worse things in the world to worry about.. he's stopped making them actually because of the impact on his health and he gained a lot of weight doing it so now he just goes around visiting places
