Curious, would this make you mad?

If you paid alot of money for a certain education in a certain field, followed all laws associated with this field and busted your butt to make a name for yourself while.....
Someone you know began working in the same field through on-the-job-training, they took the training and never completed the legalities to perform this work and is now working in your field illegally, hired at a place you applied at and gaining customers by networking the same people you network with.
Obviously you can only work illegally for so long and you run the risk of seriously injuring someone when you don't have the education to back you. Maybe I'm just venting, but would I be a big baby to report this person?Am I pathetic for even questioning that since these are the type people who are keeping me out of work? I'm sure I won't report them, but I want to feel better about wanting to report them.
I work from home anyways, I'm just pissed that they get my potential clients! And that I was overlooked by this company, but she was hired!
(For licensing reasons I do have to work for an establishment for a certain period of time before I can transfer my license to another state, which is my goal. I also have to be under a company's purchacing umbrella to get certain products and discounts. I'm too small at the moment to qualify.)
Thanks,
Holly

I'd be choked! And if there is the possibility that someone could get hurt because of their lack of education then I would want to report them too, and not out of spite!
Feel better girl :drinker:0 -
I would say that if she can cause injury to someone.. then yes you should report them. Most of the people probably aren't aware that she is technically working illegally and I can't believe a company would hire someone who isn't licensed to do whatever it is. I'd not only report her, but the company... both are in the wrong.0

are you a licensed professional? If so then you not only have a moral, but a legal responsibility to place an annonymous report.
In my field of work I can have my lic yanked if I do not report known illegal behaviour.

I fully agree with arewethereyet you have an obligation to report them to your State Licencing Board. I am also a licensed professional. That paper says that we understand that what we do impacts "the health, saftey and welfare of the general public". That means we understand not only how to practice our profession, but that we have proved to a state regulatory body that we know how to practice so that the public wether as a group, or series of individuals, is not harmed. Make tha call -- you are not being "a big baby" you are protecting your profession as well as the public.0

I'm with arewethereyet. If someone is working in your field illegally and could cause injury to someone, you have an obligation to report them. Don't feel guilty for wanting to do it.0

Thanks guys. I feel better. I have only heard from people who are not "licensed professionals" of any sort. I'm glad to hear from people who are!
You're right. Its totally not about spite at all. I really feel strongly about my profession and I have seen too many clients on my own that have been misinformed by people claiming to be professionals.
I guess there are some residual co-dependency/pessimist issues that make me question my own judgement.:grumble: I hate to see anyone lose a job, nowadays especially, but I can't be the martyr so everyone else can work.
Thanks! I knew I could count on my MFP Peeps to give me rational advise!

I've been there, tho I hav a feeling your in the medical field? I have an associates degree in Culinary Arts, and have been verbally turned down being told that basically because I'm not male and not hispanic that I woldn't be hired b/c I would cost too much to employ. It pisses the hell out of me, but instead of reporting the employer I figured karma's a b*tch and he would get his and I would get mine.0
