I was afraid of this...

I look in the mirror and at new pictures. Sometimes I have a few days in a row that are just really bad...always hungry can't stop snacking and stuff like that. When I notice that happening I have a few different things that I may do...
1. Stop buying snacks for awhile - without snacks, I don't have anything to turn to.
2. If I am going to eat snacks, keep 90 cal granola bars, 90 cal rice cake packs, or the 40-80 cal "just for 1" veggie trays...
3. Workout more so I can have more calories back..
4. Continue to Track everything so I know exactly what I am eating!0 -
I noticed you said you just started reverting to your old ways today. It's good that you noticed before it got out of hand!
I'm an old hand at turning to food. I've been doing quite well since starting MFP except on the 2 days each month when my hormones come into play and then my is constantly saying " EAT THAT, and EAT IT NOW!!" to about everything it sees. What I do about it is try to minimize the damage as much as possible.
I drink more water.
I will go exercise and push myself harder than usual, because the post-exercise endorphins can really help ease the effects of severe stress. I'm a mother of 5, only 2 of whom are still living at home as dependents, but my oldest son is fully capable of inducing severe stress all by himself. He is a part of the reason why I ended up needing this site in the first place.
If I am REALLY wanting to eat a certain thing I will try to allow myself a little bit of it, in order to prevent a full out binge later, but I do try to drink water and wait a while first, in case it's just a passing feeling.
I've also been trying to change my mindset, as I'm a high anxiety kind of person, so I try to look at each situation in this manner: Is this something about which I can do something to change it? If no, then shove it to the back of my mind. If it's something which I CAN do something to change, then I try to examine how I can go about doing that in the least stressful but most successful manner. It takes time and effort, but I've been able to make this my mantra this year via my "new year's resolution" and so far I've only had a few setbacks.
I hope I was able to offer some helpful advice here, and I hope that you can manage your stress levels so that you can continue to work on staying healthy in spite of it all.0 -
Why don't you ask your lord to fix it? Or is that another one of "it's just god's will" excuses religious people make for having faith in something that doesn't exist?
I don't know for certain yet whether you're right or she's right about your contrary beliefs in a higher power...
...but I do know that you're a tool.0 -

You do realize she didn't say that her eating was God's will, right? Why are you looking to fight about something irrelevant to the original post? Start a religious rant post if you want to, stay out of this one.0 -

The poster is entitled to an opinion, so let's not get into it.
I appreciate your time to read and respond to the thread. However, you didn't answer the question.0 -

Seriously I will definitely pray for you...that was absolutely uncalled for.0 -

For starters, God gave each of us agency to choose, and that agency will not be taken away from us regardless of the consequence - it is our gift from God. It is precisely because he loves us that God won't 'fix' our lives, anymore than a loving parent would 'fix' every problem in the life of their child. How would the child ever learn and grow without the opportunity to resolve and fix their own problems?
It is awfully nice of you to chime in however. I'm sure the world is a better place because of your outlook and willingness to share with the rest of us.0 -
And Coach...
I personally have had my own issues with going back to bad habits. It is great that you caught it only after a day! ((I was never that good)) I have found that plugging my ipod into my ears, and walking/jogging at my local park has helped me a lot. I do a LOT of meditation and spending time alone there to clear my head and take things to a higher power....and usually that helps. There is always a *root* to our problems....so finding that *root* is essential to getting back on track.
Praying for you. :flowerforyou:0 -

OT: I tell someone else to tell me off, because I know I'm a soft touch. Then I move the chocolate as far away as possible xD0

I've been doing this for the last three weeks. I know I've gained, but have been too afraid to get on the scale. Haven't figured out how to get back...0

Good stuff but I asked what YOU do in the situations.
For the record, I'm addicted to nothing other than loving my children and the Lord.
If you're turning to food instead of the Lord, it sounds like you are addicted to food whether you are admitting it to yourself or not.
Yes this. I know many people at church who had to admit this to themselves.
We should eat to live, not live to eat.
Myself included.0 -

I think about how far I've come - for the 2nd time. There is no way in hell I'm doing this again.0

I am battling that demon right now! I cycled to work this morning, 30km, and was feeling on top of the world. Looked back on where I was before I started this journey and knew that I was now a winner. My self esteem was sky high and nothing could bring me down.
Three hours later - just got word that we didn't win a major project that I had worked (slaved) on for months and that we sincerely believed we would win. Now I feel absolutely gutted and sick to my stomach.
First reaction is to eat. Second (and winning) reaction is to come to MFP and be accountable and draw inspiration from others.
I still feel pretty damn awful but I am choosing a different way to deal with it.
Now, if they would just fix the coffee machine in the office.....0
