Healthy beverages?

I am looking for any low calorie healthy beverages to drink occasionally. I love water and drink alot of it, however I was recently put on water restriction by my doctor during a hospital stay. LOL I had no idea you could drink to much. He suggested drinking an occasional gatorade or something instead of so much water.
Anyone have any good suggestions? Or had this happen to them?

Not that I'm a doctor or a health professional of any kind....but how much water are you drinking? And are you eating enough calories for nutrition? Unless you're doing tons of activity, I don't see why you should replace water with gatorade (which is water+sodium, potassium, and sugar). Or I guess maybe you could have some problem with sodium retention (too much water leaves too little sodium in your body, which you actually do need). But the majority of drinks out there....are made up of water.
Maybe I'm the only one who will be confused about this. I'm interested to see other replies.0 -
Sounds like you need to pace yourself better, a big part of the problem is probably drinking too much, too fast.
I assume the Gatorade suggestion has to do with electrolytes. I personally prefer Powerade Zero, it skips the calories, tastes better, and has b vitamins.
If you have to drink something else, you will probably want to go for something that will take you longer to drink. Maybe tea?0 -
Sodium was probably the issue. I was actually out of it when he was trying to explain everything, but I do remember them giving me something for sodium. And then being told when they finally let me go home that I needed to drink less water.
I don't keep track really of how much water, but I almost always have something to drink in front of me, Usually water. I am trying to watch my water intake closer and find a few alternatives that wont add to many calories.0 -
you could try getting some propel zero packs to add into your water. flavors it and adds electrolytes. but all of those things usually use artificial sweeteners which opens a new can of worms if you're watching that. Or maybe try freezing a water bottle and drinking it slowly as it defrosts. Or chew gum. I don't know if it's a mental "must drink" kind of think or you just like to have your mouth doing something....but chewing gum could help if that's the case.0
