Cardio Vs Weights

Good Morning MFP users (Or evening or afternoon depending on where you are around the world).
I have been lazy my whole life and it was only when i had a conversation about calories at work 111 days ago i was proved wrong that calorie counting does not work. It does, It works really well!
But now i am taking this to the next level.
I have currently lost 4 stone and after the 3 stone mark i joined a gym and worked hard for the 4th. I am now at a stage where I don't know which is the best direction to take in the gym as i am currently doing an even mix of cardio and weights.
I still need to lose 28lbs before I start weight lifting for strength.
I know muscle weighs more than fat so i know if i build muscle and lose fat i wont lose weight but i will reduce in size, the particular weight exercises i currently do are very good on the "after burn".
But what do i need to do to lose the last 28lbs? Cardio or conditioning myself with weights?
(I apologise if i haven't come across very clear here but i have learnt a lot of information over the past 100+ days and i am just trying to take it all in as every one has different opinions.)
My opinion is that conditioning myself using weights is the way forward!
Please help! :explode:
